In the ore dressing process, the flotation process can only recover ilmenite particles with a particle size of less than 0.02mm to a certain extent. There are still many gangue minerals such as quartz in the concentrate powder after flotation operation, which will seriously affect the efficiency of flotation operation. Therefore, it is necessary to arrange a magnetic separation process before flotation operation. The combined process of magnetic separation + flotation can greatly improve the concentrate grade and the total recovery rate of concentrate.
When processing ilmenite with a grade below 6%, the gravity selection + flotation process can be used to obtain a good selection effect. The ilmenite obtained by this combined beneficiation method can be increased to more than 30% after gravity selection, and the grade of titanium concentrate can be increased to 47% after flotation desulfurization and other processes. At the same time, sulfur concentrate with a grade of up to 40% can also be obtained. Therefore, the gravity selection + flotation combined process can improve the utilization rate of resources.
For placer titanium ore, a single gravity separation or magnetic separation process can be used to complete the selection operation, but the magnetic separation + gravity separation process can reduce production costs and increase benefits while ensuring recovery efficiency. This method can obtain a concentrate grade of 50% and a recovery rate of 80%.
If the gangue minerals in the ilmenite ore are mainly titanium pyroxene and plagioclase, and also contain sulfides, the gravity separation process can be used to remove plagioclase, and then the flotation process can be used for desulfurization, and finally the electrostatic separation method can be used to remove titanium pyroxene. After these treatments, the grade and utilization rate of the ore can be improved. This combined method can also be used to process ilmenite with lower grade.
The electrostatic separation method is mainly used to process coarse concentrates containing non-conductive impurities that have been re-selected and magnetically separated. At present, the electrostatic separation method has been widely used in the selection of ores. When using the electrostatic separation method to treat ilmenite, it is necessary to pay attention to the ore particle size should meet the requirements, otherwise it will affect the efficiency and quality of the concentrate separation. Before electrostatic separation, the ore also needs to be pre-treated by heating, radiation irradiation and other pretreatment processes. The concentrate grade obtained by electrostatic separation can be increased to 45%-47%, and the recovery rate of the ore will also be improved.
