Flotation is a widely used beneficiation method in gold ore dressing plants. It is often used to treat gold-containing sulfide minerals with high floatability, float gold into copper and lead concentrates, and then extract gold from these concentrates. Therefore, it is a relatively economical and reasonable process for gold ores containing non-ferrous metals in the original ore. It can realize the comprehensive utilization of multiple metals and enrich gold in sulfide minerals as much as possible.

In order to improve the return on investment, for ores of different properties, the combined beneficiation process of flotation and other processes can sometimes achieve more impressive results.

1. Flotation - cyanide leaching of concentrate

This gold ore flotation method is often used to treat gold ores in gold-bearing quartz veins and gold-bearing pyrite quartz veins. Generally, xanthate is used as a collector, pine oil is used as a frother, and weakly alkaline slurry is floated in a flotation machine to obtain gold concentrate. The flotation concentrate is then leached with cyanide, the gold is dissolved by cyanide, the complex enters the solution, and then replaced with zinc powder to obtain gold mud, and finally the gold mud is pyrometallurgically smelted to obtain pure gold.

2. Flotation - thiourea leaching of concentrate

For vein gold ores with high arsenic and sulfur content or high carbon mud content, flotation can be used to obtain gold-bearing sulfide concentrate, and then the flotation concentrate is leached with thiourea to recover gold.

Thiourea acid solution dissolves gold and silver at a high speed, has low toxicity, and is easy to regenerate. Therefore, thiourea leaching can extract gold and silver from gold-containing mineral ores that are difficult to treat by cyanide. At the same time, the thiourea gold leaching time is generally much shorter than the cyanide gold leaching time.

3. Flotation-concentrate roasting-high acid washing-cyanide leaching

For flotation concentrates with high arsenic and sulfur content, after flotation of cyanide tailings, impurities such as sulfur, iron, and arsenic are enriched in the concentrate to become a high-sulfur and high-arsenic concentrate that is difficult to select. When direct cyanide leaching is not possible, the flotation gold concentrate can be oxidized and roasted first to remove arsenic and sulfur. In this way, the roasted sand structure after roasting is loose, which is more conducive to the leaching of gold and silver. Subsequently, high acid pretreatment washing is used, and most of the impurities are dissolved by acid and removed by washing, which ensures the cyanide leaching rate and effectively enriches the gold grade.
