The raw ore of Shandong 1 Million TPA Zircon-Titanium Ore Dressing Project is mainly imported from Africa, Madagascar, Southeast Asia, the United States, Ukraine, Australia, Brazil and other regions, and the raw ore mineral composition is complex. The domestic ore dressing plants that import zircon-titanium ore use relatively simple process flows, only recovering titanium and zirconium, with serious metal mineral losses and limited concentrate quality, which is a huge waste for the raw ore imported at a high price. The intermediate products produced by the ore dressing plant are piled up on the ground nearby. The state of the factory can be described as "dirty, messy and poor". The customer hopes that Xinhai Mining can help it achieve two goals. One is to comprehensively recycle all kinds of recyclable minerals to achieve no tailing discharge; the other is to finely process each recyclable product to maximize the added value of each product.
Xinhai Mining attaches great importance to the zircon-titanium project. In the research and design stage alone, more than 30 professional technicians were sent to repeatedly conduct ore dressing tests and innovative process design. After multiple on-site environmental investigations and studies of the project and multiple rounds of program modifications, taking into account the needs of cost saving, environmental protection, safety, automation, etc., the innovative process flow of the Shandong 1 million TPA zircon-titanium project was finally determined: Ore scrubbing and desludging - titanium ore wet magnetic separation - magnetic tail classification - particle size re-selection - electrostatic separation - sewage treatment process. Utilizing the differences in magnetism, specific gravity, particle size, and conductivity between minerals, 15 kinds of useful minerals can be accurately recovered. While realizing the refined and comprehensive recovery of all valuable minerals, a modern zircon-titanium ore dressing plant with unique highlights has also been built.
Xinhai Mining Research Institute first conducted professional mineral processing tests on zircon-titanium ore, and issued the "Ore Selectability Test Report" for zircon-titanium ore, and concluded that the mineral distribution particle size from coarse to fine is: zircon, ilmenite, rutile, monazite. Xinhai Mining Design Institute refers to the test process recommended by the research institute, combines the project's field environment, and conducts the following process research and design innovations to achieve comprehensive recovery of useful minerals and maximize recovery rates.
1. Add scrubbing and desludging process before wet magnetic separation: The zircon-titanium ore contains 0.3% mud, which affects both wet magnetic separation and subsequent gravity separation. At the same time, the mud will be distributed to all slurries, affecting the sewage treatment effect. Xinhai Mining's innovative process adds a scrubbing and desludging process after slurry mixing to scrub away the mud and other impurities on the surface of the ore particles, providing relatively clean raw materials for subsequent wet magnetic separation and gravity separation operations. The quality of valuable products such as titanium ore, zircon sand, and rutile is also further improved. At the same time, the amount of mud treated after scrubbing and desludging is greatly reduced, reducing the burden of subsequent sewage treatment.
2. Add classification and narrow-size gravity separation before gravity separation: For gravity separation operations using spiral chutes and shaking tables, the narrower the size range, the better the gravity separation effect. In this design, classification operations were added before gravity separation to enhance the gravity separation effect.
3. Repeated selection of intermediate products: Xinhai Mining's innovative design process fully considers the reselection of intermediate products, repeatedly selects the intermediate products produced in the zircon and rutile electroselection stages, and maximizes the product recovery rate and concentrate grade through process design and equipment layout.
Xinhai Mining designed an automated mineral processing system for the Shandong 1 million TPA zircon-titanium ore project. On the one hand, Xinhai Mining designed and implemented an automatic batching system, automatic material distribution system and automatic loading system for the project, which greatly reduced the labor intensity and operating errors of workers, and effectively improved the production efficiency and resource utilization of the processing plant.
On the other hand, considering the particularity and complexity of the zircon-titanium ore process, Xinhai Mining has planned and designed centralized control rooms at the workshop and plant levels to monitor, analyze and operate the entire production process in real time, improve the production automation and intelligence level of the ore dressing plant, and create an intelligent green ore dressing plant.
The zircon-titanium ore dressing plant designed and constructed by Xinhai Mining adopts an intensive design. All components of the plant, except the foundation, are produced in a factory and assembled on site after being transported to the site. The modern new steel structure plant is fast to construct, occupies less space, saves investment, and has a beautiful appearance.
Inside the plant, an intensive design scheme is also adopted for the installation of magnetic separation and gravity separation equipment. In the magnetic separation stage, the ore slurry is self-flowing through a double-layer height difference design; in the gravity separation stage, the conventional practice of "building a shaking table on the ground and digging a pit underground" is changed, and the shaking table is arranged in multiple layers to save space.
1. Underground water treatment: Xinhai Mining has designed a centralized wastewater treatment system for the Shandong Zirconium Titanium Ore Concentrator. All water used in the concentrator's production process is recycled to the water supply pool and returned to the production process for reuse, achieving zero emissions. The concentrator's water supply pool is designed as an underground pool, which can reduce evaporation and reduce the amount of new water added to the concentrator. The total water consumption of the first phase of the entire project is 2055m³/h, the total return water volume is 2050m³/h, and the return water utilization rate is as high as 99.75%.
2. Materials do not fall to the ground: Xinhai Mining innovatively proposed the design scheme of ;materials do not fall to the ground, which changed the previous dirty, messy and poor environmental status of the dressing plant. All raw ores and intermediate products are placed in the storage bin, and shovels and forklifts are removed to the maximum extent. The intermediate products are transported to the next process by belt conveyors. Except for the final finished product entering the finished product warehouse, there is no forklift operation in other places, and the entire dressing plant realizes continuous automated production.
3. Dust removal and noise reduction: Xinhai Mining Equipment has carried out dust removal and noise reduction design for this project, and has added advanced devices such as dust collectors, dust hoods, mufflers, shock pads, and soundproof hoods to the equipment to ensure that the workshop meets the environmental protection standards of low dust and low noise; at the same time, greening is planted between the factory area and the road to form a sound barrier.
Xinhai Mining Design Institute provided an innovative 3D design for this project, allowing customers to view the actual effect of the concentrator after completion in advance, so that customers can grasp the overall planning of the project. At the same time, Xinhai Mining also uses 3D design to produce regulatory reporting and review renderings for customers, helping the project to pass approval smoothly.
Xinhai Mining's Shandong 1 million TPA zircon-titanium ore project has been successfully put into production and is running smoothly. The innovative process design will comprehensively recycle all recyclable minerals to achieve no tailings discharge, perfectly meeting the customer's demand for "eating up and squeezing out useful minerals, and also changing the current situation of domestic imported seaside sand zircon-titanium ore processing plants. The integrated zircon-titanium recovery design scheme pioneered by Xinhai Mining has been widely recognized by the industry. By the end of 2023, Xinhai Mining has successively taken over 5 zircon-titanium projects in Guangxi, Hainan, Guangdong, Jiangsu and other place.
