Flotation method is a kind of mineral processing method widely used in gold concentrators at present, that is, adding various flotation reagents in the process of separation to adjust the physical and chemical properties of the selected minerals and flotation media, expand the difference in hydrophobicity between gold minerals and gangue minerals, so as to achieve the separation of gold minerals and gangue minerals. This method can enrich gold into sulfide mineral concentrate as much as possible, and is beneficial to realize comprehensive recovery of mineral resources.

It is suitable to choose gold ore by flotation method

In production practice, when gold-bearing ore has the following characteristics, flotation method can be considered for sorting:

■  Ore in close association with gold and sulfide;

■  Although most of the gold does not symbiosis with sulfide, the stable foam of gold-bearing sulfide has been formed with considerable amount of metal sulfide in the ore.

■  The ore does not contain sulfide, but contains a lot of iron oxide (such as iron cap), at this time ochre mud can play a role in stabilizing the foam;

■  The ore does not contain sulfides or iron oxides, but contains minerals (such as sericite) that can enter the foam and stabilize the foam;

■  Pure quartzy gold ore is pre-mixed with sulfide ore in a certain proportion, or about 3% metal sulfide is added, or appropriate flotation agent is selected to form a stable foam;

■  The main metals (copper, lead, zinc, etc.) in the gold ore have been recovered by flotation, and the tailings need to be cyanidated.

Generally speaking, sulfide gold-bearing quartz vein ores with fine gold grains and good floatability, gold-bearing sulfide ores with many valuable metals (such as copper, lead and zinc) and graphite-bearing gold-bearing ores are suitable for recovery by flotation method.
