Most oxidized gold ores come from the oxidation process of other gold ores, such as pyrite, chalcopyrite, etc. The color of oxidized gold is generally brown, brown or maroon, etc. The particle size of gold in the mineral is usually small, the shape is fine and not easy to disperse.
Flotation method is one of the effective methods to extract gold from oxidized gold. Let's learn about the flotation process of oxidized gold ore!
The flotation of oxidized gold mainly utilizes the difference in properties between the surfaces of gold and other gangue minerals. During flotation, the gold particles are made hydrophobic by adding collectors, and then attached to the bubbles to complete the separation. However, due to the difficulty of oxidized gold selection, it is often difficult to obtain a more ideal gold recovery rate with a single flotation. Therefore, flotation and other technologies are often used to form a combined beneficiation process. Commonly used ones are: flotation + concentrate cyanide leaching process, flotation + concentrate thiourea leaching process, flotation + amalgamation process, and flotation + concentrate roasting + high acid washing + cyanide leaching process, etc.
The flotation + concentrate cyanide leaching process is mainly suitable for the treatment of quartz vein or pyrite-containing oxidized gold ore selection. During flotation, xanthate can be used as a collector and pine alcohol as a frother. Under weakly alkaline pulp conditions, the flotation method is first used to obtain gold concentrate, and then the gold concentrate is cyanide leached. The obtained solution is replaced with zinc powder to obtain the final gold mud, so that pure gold can be obtained directly in the subsequent smelting.
The flotation + concentrate thiourea leaching process is suitable for treating oxidized gold ores containing arsenic, sulfur or high carbon. During flotation, the flotation reagents are used to make it hydrophobic with water, and then the flotation is completed with the froth floating to obtain sulfur-containing gold concentrate, and then the thiourea leaching process is used to recover the gold in it.
Mercury mixing is used to recover gold. It is generally suitable for treating coarse oxidized gold ores and quartz primary ores containing natural gold particles or free gold close to the surface. The flotation method is also used to obtain gold concentrate, and then the mercury mixing method is used to extract gold. The particle size range suitable for mercury gold selection is 0.2~0.03mm.
The flotation + concentrate roasting + high acid washing + cyanide leaching gold selection process is mainly suitable for processing oxidized gold ores with high arsenic and sulfur content. Due to the high sulfur and arsenic content, the gold concentrate obtained by flotation will contain arsenic, sulfur and iron impurities. The direct cyanide leaching efficiency of this kind of gold ore is not high. Therefore, after flotation, it can be oxidized roasted to remove arsenic and sulfur, and then washed with high acid pretreatment to remove most of the impurities (dissolved by acid), and finally cyanide leaching is performed to obtain qualified gold concentrate.
The above is an introduction to several common low-grade oxidized gold ore flotation process methods. Mineral resources are non-renewable, as we all know, especially gold is still a hard currency. Now the price is soaring wildly. It is also the main mineral resource developed by major mining companies. The composition of each gold ore is different, so the mineral processing technology is also different. If you want to obtain the ideal gold grade and improve the return on investment, it is recommended to conduct mineral processing tests, and design suitable gold flotation process or other gold processing process through experimental analysis.
